to all those out there..
who doesn't really know what a physio is...
there are a few things u should know...
before u say something that can potentially upset a physio...

1) we are not masseurs...thus, we do not give massages (unless u're a close friend, spouse, bf/gf, parents...i.e. someone special)
2) we do more than teach crutches and tape ankles
3) physio courses teach more than "moving the limbs", "do exercise", "massage"...we pay alot to learn alot
4) do not disregard the contribution we make to helping a patient get better.
5) do not assume that you know what a physio does, only to end up saying things leading to point 1, 2, 3 and 4
6) while we are happy to give u some general advice, we do not have superhuman powers and can't diagnose your 'painful knee' problem over dinner/coffee.
7) exercise is a significant part of physio, so don't complain to us that your physio is not working when you are not doing your home exercises.

okie, so far can only think of so many..
but let me tell u..
recently i've been getting alot of the above mentioned comments..
and it makes me very IRRITATED!!
if you dunno, DUN ASSUME!!
*growl*
the next time someone comes close to asking me stupid questions like "eh, my back pain. how ah?", "so, all u do is walk patients ah? so easy?" and "do exercise? i got no time, u just massage and make it better lah"
be prepared to face a very very angry Gretel..
and for some very very sarcastic remarks....
or a very very long ranting session...

which brings me to another point..
i am so fed-up with the inaccuracy of 'physiotherapy' in drama serials..
please lor,
no hospital will allow only the patient's relative/friend/teacher to supervise a spinal cord injured patient at the parallel bars...
and i am very irritated with how the characters in the show use crutches wrongly...
i mean..
if they can research on how the operating theatre is supposed to be set up...
then cannot do a teeny bit of research on the actual workings of physio departments?!?!?!
PISSED OFF lah!!

my mum has been getting alot of "physio not like that one lah" and "crutches wrong already!" when i watch TV with her...
i am half tempted to write a letter to mediacorp and get them to PLEASE ACCURATELY REFLECT WHAT A PHYSIO DOES!!

i got alot of pent up anger...
and only managed to vent abt 30% out with the CAPS and !!!!

ppppffffffttttttt

i need sleep...
and...
i want a big big stuffed toy to hug!
